Laura’s degree show included paintings in oil and acrylic together with prints, photographs and short films, the show sold out and Laura continued to experiment with a variety of materials and techniques throughout her career.
Laura first studied fashion design at Medway College of Design in Kent and then moved to London where she lived and worked until deciding to continue here studies in Brighton.
She was lead vocalist with the David Ingledew Band and she also founded the Brighton based Jazz band The City Birds, performing Jazz Standards and original compositions. Laura was a member of the country’s leading Symphony Chorus The Brighton Festival Chorus with whom she toured throughout the UK and Europe.
Laura was obviously a busy performer but always kept up her love of composition working on ideas for film and television but also composing with her brother Kevan, as life long collaborators and performers with numerous incarnations of their bands. But they were best know locally for their performances as Three Girl Rumba.
Three Girl Rumba created a unique blend of hypnotic, pulsing yet melodic sounds juxtaposed with haunting, drifting, echoing voices all performed by Laura and Kevan.
