I never envisaged a day when I would go off on my own for such a long period of time. I realised when I was travelling that this was really the first time in my life when I had no responsibilities and I didn’t have to worry or think about what anyone else wanted to do. It was an amazing and freeing experience. I had to learn that you can’t be on the go every day and that it’s important to have rest days.
Those days were of course filled with writing, eating, drinking and walking, but it was also good to just be and to just be in a new place and feel that somehow you were part of that place.
