Myra’s journey has been one of stops and starts, change and drifting from one thing to another. Having gained a place at university Myra didn’t stay there for very long, she was restless and didn’t think it was the right place for her. She then got a place at a Polytechnic, again, she moved on after a short time. She also completed the NCTJ National Council for Training of Journalists diploma but then did not want to pursue a career in journalism. (She now loves to write poetry and blogs). At that time she struggled with a lack of self-belief and with a constant feeling of restlessness.
Myra married and had a series of sales jobs, in a variety of different markets, gaining extensive general sales experience. She opened new sales offices and had responsibility for putting businesses on map through networking and marketing to both corporate clients and members of the public.
Myra went on to successfully generate international sales of both property and complex financial products across Europe and the Middle East.
Myra made a real success of her career in Sales, but was still looking for something else which would fulfil her.
Myra read a book on Mindfulness which was something she could really engage with. This was the start of a change for Myra.
Myra completed a 4 year teaching diploma with the British Wheel of Yoga back in 2004 as she has always been on her own spiritual journey. She taught part-time for a number of years. She became very interested in Mindfulness after reading Ariana Huffington’s book ‘Thrive:The Third Metric’ and really engaged with this. She went onto train with some leading lights in the field and taught Mindfulness within Companies and her local education authority. She also trained with Marisa Peer, sometimes known as the world’s top therapist as a Rapid Transformational Therapist and Clinical Hypnotherapist.
During this phase of change Myra spent some years supporting and guiding people to help them achieve their career potential, giving them the tools and support to enhance their commercial prospects and achieve career progression, always giving best advice on navigation of job markets and creation of new opportunities.
Myra provided outplacement services to diverse businesses, underpinning both downsizing and rapid development and change. She coached and mentored individuals with interview, networking and negotiation skills to inspire them by improving their confidence and perspective in order to secure successful outcomes. Her deep listening skills together with her varied business experience made her ideal for this role.
Myra has blended her many skills to work as a Coach. She strongly believes in coaching and has her own Coach too. Myra has built her own practice, doing what she loves, supporting people to make change in their lives. She has worked with organisations as well as individuals, building programmes for coaching, mentoring and mindfulness.
We are delighted to have Myra as one of our Mentors.
