Sam has 20 years of leadership experience in the english National Health Service including as a Director of Strategy and a Deputy Chief Executive.
With an original background in clinical research, alongside skills drawn from the world of performance, Sam’s interdisciplinary approach is powerful and accessible.
Sam has previously facilitated a number of leadership development programmes, and she supports mentoring programmes for a number of academic organisations, including the Academy of Medical Sciences. She also works as a facilitator at Windsor Leadership, including on the Florence Nightingale Programme.
Sam has particular interests in leadership and community development, partnership work, conflict resolution and creative strategic thinking. She is author of Rhyme and Reason – The Poetry of Leadership, and an accredited leader of the internationally renowned Mastery of Self Expression workshop.
She says:
“Although they may seem different, there are big parallels between my work in personal development and in theatre directing. Both are about bringing out something in people, and helping them to communicate with power and authenticity.
Working in the two fields enables me to utilise my skills and follow my passion, and I think each fuels and inspires the other.”
Sam’s plays are primarily female-centric, and range from historical musical, through adaptations of classics to dystopian science-fiction. She has won multiple awards, including the Outstanding Theatre award Brighton Fringe, an Infallibles nomination at Edinburgh Fringe and being selected for the International Fringe Encore series at Soho Playhouse, New York. Sam has four grown up children and lives in the Cuckmere valley in Sussex. She enjoys pottery and pottering about and is scared of heights, spiral staircases, and not knowing what to say.
