Virpi has always loved reading and nature. She dreamed of being an adventurer like her hero, Sir David Attenborough.
Born in Northern Finland, Virpi grew up in rural areas, spending much of her time outdoors. Her curiosity, love of books, and nature drove her to study Biology at the University of Oulu. She later earned a Doctorate in Endocrinological Physiology. Her PhD research focused on the molecular physiology of cardiac hormones. It also examined the regulation of these hormones.
Her doctoral research yielded new findings. Her qualifications opened doors in the biomedical field. She chose to move to Singapore to join a research group. She enjoyed life in Singapore and was granted permanent residency.
As a mother of a one-year-old, balancing work and life became harder. To fix this, she resigned to start a business. She believed working from home would help her be more present for her daughter.
In 2005, Virpi launched her first business. It was an online information marketing venture where she created and sold eBooks. She identified niche topics with high search volumes but limited quality information available. She then gathered information, wrote eBooks on these subjects, and sold them for a fee. Virpi became skilled in marketing. She mastered SEO and Google AdWords. This ensured her books, sold through websites she built, appeared in search results. The business was successful and generated a good income.
Like all things, this business eventually came to an end. Search algorithm changes and rising competition hurt her niche websites. They no longer ranked at the top of search results. eBook sales plummeted.
Virpi quickly transitioned to another business. She launched a small business consulting venture. It offered online website development and presence-building services to small businesses. To meet clients’ demands, she had to hire staff for website graphic design and development. Managing developers and demanding customers felt chaotic and stressful for Virpi.
Fortunately, a business owner requested Virpi to coach her on her business approach. This coaching engagement was a success. The client’s happiness skyrocketed – and so did her business profits.
Virpi also found joy in working as a coaching partner. After a few more successful coaching jobs, Virpi realised she had found her true calling. She closed her consulting business to focus on coaching.
Over the years, Virpi has invested much in her coaching training. Today, she is a Certified Money and Business Coach, an Executive Coach, and a Mental Fitness Coach. She also trained as a Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) practitioner.
Virpi has established a successful coaching practice aimed at entrepreneurial business leaders. She also mentors coaches and experts in building their own businesses.
During the Covid pandemic, Virpi returned to Finland. She has a second home in Singapore. She continues her life’s work as a coach to entrepreneurs in Asia and Europe. Virpi’s daughter is studying physics at the University of Helsinki.
