Mentoring helps people take positive steps forward in their careers—which also helps develop the talent pool for your organisation.
Mentors use their knowledge and experience to support mentees to develop skills, identifying goals, opportunities to learn and find their own solutions to overcome issues and is key to personal and professional growth.
Mentoring is about helping others develop in a positive and more effective way. It is a relationship designed to build confidence and support the mentee so that they can take control of their own development and progress. It is trust-based and confidential and will help your colleagues to feel valued, represented, productive, self-fulfilled and rewarded.
Why is Women’s Mentoring Necessary?
Research carried out by McKinsey & Co has shown that companies with the greatest gender diversity on their executive teams are 21% more likely to outperform peers on profitability and 27% more likely to create superior value. However, according to a global survey by leadership advisory firm Egon Zehnder, nearly half of women report not having access to the kind of senior leaders who could serve as effective mentors.
Mentoring that crosses lines in both directions in all sorts of ways…race, ethnicity and national origin, sexual and gender identity, age, ability, class background, etc. is so powerful. Mentor/mentee relationships do not need to echo traditional privilege structures or go only one way across lines of difference; we all have so much to learn from each other, we all have stories to share about how we bring our full selves to work, how we succeed and thrive, how we achieve results, and we all can do better by learning from those stories.
Why Join Mentors for Women?
Mentors for Women offer a bespoke mentoring system for women, managing the mentoring process and measuring success, with detailed and regular reporting based on your requirements. We are unique because we have no boundaries. We support all women, from all walks of life, from all professions, and at all life stages, and not just individuals, but also organisations. Our aim is to make mentoring much more accessible to women than it is today, particularly to women in junior and middle management roles.
We provide a platform for your colleagues to find a mentor, at any stage of their career. We are non-sector specific and have a team of mentors from an extensive variety of careers, backgrounds and businesses. Having a diversity of mentors can expand a person’s perspectives and help them grow more intentionally and effectively.
Mentor/mentee relationships are completely confidential and having an external mentor could well help some employees get to the nub of what they are trying to achieve with an impartial mentor.
As well as providing a mentoring service, Mentors for Women offer development opportunities through a mixture of mediums for your colleagues to become mentors themselves, to support their personal development and your internal succession planning.
Being a mentor is a challenging, stimulating and hugely rewarding experience. A mentor has a genuine interest in helping others develop and gets great satisfaction out of sharing their learning and experiences. And the key skills required are eminently transferrable – communication; emotional intelligence; building rapport; use of positive and open language; listening; asking open questions; drawing out key issues and learning.
Mentors for Women is a place of inspiration, a place to share stories both personal and professional, a place to check in and see what is new, a place to be and a space to grow.

You can help us to grow this charity whilst supporting your colleagues’ development. If your colleagues provide mentoring services through Mentors for Women, should you wish, we will direct their fees straight to the Charity, giving opportunities to women who would not have this chance without your support. We will confirm your donation levels on a regular basis to enable you to report on your philanthropic activities.
A recent study found that 82% of consumers said their decision would be influenced by whether the company was philanthropic. Other studies have shown that Millennials are 70% more likely to spend more on brands that support causes, so it is certainly worth considering the impact of your business’s relationship with charities.
Seeing the organisation they work for support charitable causes increases positivity amongst your colleagues. Feeling proud to work for a philanthropic company could also increase their loyalty and retention, morale and commitment.
Sharing the stories of sponsorships and charitable events and donations can benefit you from several perspectives. Media coverage can let the public know what you’re doing as well as reinforce to your colleagues that they’ve made the right choice to work for you. Charity stories on your website let visitors know about your charitable presence in the community and it can show clients that your organisation is committed to charitable causes. If managed well, successful relationships with charities can positively impact your organisation’s reputation.
